Borox and Añover de Tajo, between the river plain and the A-4: Madrid, Aranjuez, Barajas and Toledo
Borox and Añover de Tajo have no Cercanías: the nearest stations are Seseña and Aranjuez, both on line C-3, and people drive to them. Towards Madrid and Barajas you join the A-4 at Seseña or the R-4 toll road; from Borox to the airport it is 66 km, from 101,18 €. In the other direction, Toledo city holds the reference hospital, the AVE and the regional government: from Añover to the University Hospital it is 31 km. A transfer with a driver, with the price fixed before booking, links both directions without relying on the few buses along the river plain.

Where are Borox and Añover, and why do they look in two directions?
Borox and Añover de Tajo occupy the south-eastern corner of La Sagra, where the cereal plain drops towards the Tajo river plain. Borox is a step away from Seseña and the A-4, and shares with the rest of the area the daily back-and-forth to southern Madrid; Añover looks over the river plain, with market gardens and irrigated fields, and has Aranjuez a short distance away, already in the Madrid region. They are considerably smaller towns than Illescas or Seseña, with the same reliance on the car for almost everything that is not in the town itself: the train, the hospital, the airport and a good share of the work.
That position makes them look in two places at once. For work, big shopping trips, the train and the airport, it is north: Seseña, Aranjuez, Valdemoro, Pinto and Madrid. For the hospital, the Toledo AVE and dealings with the regional government, it is west: Toledo city, close in kilometres but poorly linked by bus. The same resident may need, in a single week, a pre-dawn transfer to Barajas and a mid-morning one to an appointment in Toledo, and in neither case is there direct public transport that drops them at the door at the time they need.
Which train is within reach: Seseña, Aranjuez or none?
Neither town has a Cercanías station. The nearest for Borox is Seseña, on line C-3, some way from the town centre and with a car park; for Añover, besides Seseña, there is Aranjuez, the terminus of the same C-3 and a Media Distancia station towards Alcázar de San Juan and La Mancha. From both, the Cercanías reaches Atocha and Chamartín, and for the airport you would change at Atocha to the C-1. From Borox to Seseña station it is 18 km, a short trip most people make by car because the bus is not designed to connect with the train.
The train makes sense for getting to work in Madrid at a normal hour, for a shopping day or for an unhurried visit. It stops making sense when the time does not fit: the first Cercanías is no use for a seven o'clock flight, the last one does not wait for someone coming back from a dinner, and with suitcases the double change at Atocha becomes long. A car to Seseña station booked for the train time, from 45,35 € from Añover, solves the weak link without giving up the Cercanías; for everything else, the full transfer avoids the changes and the parking.
How do you get to Madrid and Barajas?
From Borox you join the A-4 at Seseña, and from Añover you also reach the same motorway via Seseña. The A-4 enters Madrid through Valdemoro and Pinto and is the slowest southern approach in the morning rush; the R-4 toll road runs alongside and is usually clear as far as the M-50. For Barajas, the usual route follows the M-50 eastwards without entering the city, or the M-40 if the M-50 is busy. The driver chooses the road for that moment's traffic, and the price fixed at booking does not change for the toll, the detour or a hold-up.
From Borox, the trip to the airport takes around 57 min without traffic, and from Añover de Tajo the transfer starts from 113,28 €. For an early European flight, the pickup in these towns usually falls between half past four and half past five in the morning, depending on the terminal and the day of the week. In Madrid, the other usual destination is Atocha, to catch an AVE with luggage or to come back from one, about 46 min from Borox. The return from Barajas is booked with the flight number, with a sign in arrivals if requested, and the calculator tells you whether there is a slot for that time.
And towards Toledo: hospital, AVE and paperwork?
Toledo city is the other half of life in these towns. That is where the University Hospital is, in the Santa María de Benquerencia district on the east side of the city, the reference hospital for the whole province; the AVE station, on Paseo de la Rosa below the old town; and the regional government's departments and services. There is a bus between the river plain and Toledo, but with a timetable designed around the day and routes that call at several towns, so a nine o'clock appointment at the hospital can mean leaving home very early and getting back well into the afternoon.
By car, Toledo is close along La Sagra's local roads, which follow the river plain or join the A-42. From Añover de Tajo to the University Hospital takes about 32 min; from Borox to Toledo city, the transfer starts from 65,49 €; and from Añover to Toledo's AVE station it is 33 km, handy for anyone coming back from Madrid on the Avant with nobody to collect them. For the hospital, a car with a driver suits anyone who travels seated, with a companion at no extra cost; if the doctor prescribes medical transport, SESCAM organises it and the car does not replace it.
What is worth knowing when booking from Borox or Añover?
The first thing is the address. In both towns there are houses outside the centre, warehouses and farms on the river plain reached by tracks, and it helps to give a clear landmark and a phone number so the driver does not have to search in the dark. The second, the time: for the airport, the driver proposes a pickup allowing for the motorway, and for the hospital, allowing for the way into Toledo first thing. The third, luggage and companions, because the price is per car, not per person: if more than four are travelling or there are large suitcases, say so, so that the vehicle is suitable.
Some transfers repeat and can be set up as regular bookings: the weekly physiotherapy session in Toledo, the link with the first Cercanías at Seseña or picking up a student at that same station on the way back from Madrid. You can also ask for an invoice with the details of a company or a self-employed person, useful for farms and businesses on the river plain that receive visitors, and a business account can be opened to avoid paying trip by trip. Minors can travel alone if the person booking says so and leaves a contact number, and child seats and pets are mentioned when booking, without changing the fixed price.
What happens if the flight is delayed or the booking has to change?
The Barajas pickup is booked with the flight number precisely so that the driver follows the actual arrival rather than the time printed on the ticket: if the plane lands late, the pickup is adjusted to that arrival, and someone returning to Borox or Añover does not need to send word from the runway. What does help is checking on landing that the booking's contact phone is switched on and replying to the driver's message, because the terminal exit is crowded and that is how the meeting point is confirmed. If the flight is cancelled, the piece on delayed or cancelled flights explains what happens to the booked transfer.
For the outbound trip, changing the time or day is common when the airline moves the flight, and it is done from the booking itself under the change and cancellation conditions explained on the help page, which also says when money is refunded. With holiday flights, the sensible approach is to book ahead and review the booking when the airline's last notice arrives. From these towns, where a pre-dawn pickup has no public transport alternative, a change that is not passed on leaves a family with no way to arrive on time, so any change to the flight is worth transferring to the booking as soon as it is known, even if days remain.
